Training and Development

Induction Training

All Care Support Workers attend a comprehensive Induction Training programme when joining Hounslow Crossroads. This includes training on Health and Safety, Personal Care, Medication, Moving and Handling, First Aid, Equal Opportunities, Abuse Awareness and Dementia Care.

New Care Support Workers also spend time shadowing existing Care Support Workers to see how the training is put into practice.

Ongoing Training

All Staff at Hounslow Crossroads regularly attend updated training sessions on Moving and Handling, First Aid, Health & Safety and Abuse Awareness.

Specialist training is also provided on specific medical conditions, e.g. Parkinson’s, Stroke, Diabetes, and other topics such as Fire Safety, Food Hygiene and Continence. Individual training is given to Staff by professionals when working with clients who have specific requirements, e.g. Speech & Language Therapists, District Nurses, Physiotherapists.

National Vocational Qualifications

Hounslow Crossroads is committed to staff development and improving the quality of care provided to those receiving its service.

Hounslow Crossroads has an ongoing programme of National Vocational Qualifications (NVQs) for all Staff and is on course to meet the Government target of having all Care Staff qualified in NVQs by 2008.
